Choose your Happy

Choose your Happy

We live in a butt hurt world. Everyone is offended by everything.  Everyone is taking sides against one another.  It's hard to ignore all of this.  My generation has the highest anxiety levels of all time.  We can't even walk out our door without our phones because we feel like we could be cut off from communication.  We hate leaving our families, but we all want to travel because it does make us feel alive.

I don't think there is a fix for it.  We live in a technology driven world and with that comes extra stresses.  Media instills fear in all of us, and media is everywhere.  Tragedy seems to strike every day and we are all waiting for it to happen to us or someone we love.  It's not fair.  It sucks.   It's stressful.  It makes us anxious.  And we are so jealous of the generations before us because they didn't have to live their prime years like we have had to.  We may seem like the selfish generation because we are so worried about being happy - but that's because it's so much harder to stay positive than it was for the generations before us.

Although we can't fix it, there are ways to make it easier.  Choose your happy.  Find your happy.  By this, I mean, find those things that make you happy.  Make sure they're positive and not some temporary bandage for the pain.  Decide to surround yourself with positive people.  Keep a journal of the things you are thankful for and try to find the good in the world.  Spend time by yourself, create new pieces of art.  Love your little heart out.  Happiness is all around us. It's there.  I promise.  The more you find it, the more the world will seem more safe.

We are never going to change the world unless we change ourselves.  Choose your happy. Find your inner peace.  This will hopefully reflect to those around you and you will finally be able to breathe.  Happy exists, you have to choose it. If we all just spent a moment to be thankful for what we do have and pass the good on to those around us, the world will change.
