Overcoming the Afternoon Slump
You can say that our afternoon slump is a part of our circadian rhythm. Even with my ability to work for myself and tell myself that at 2-3pm I don't need to be quite productive, I still feel sluggish and I still hate it. I've recently cut out all caffeine, something that has benefited my battle with anxiety, and because of that I've learned more natural ways to become energized now...
You may be reading this because you want a quick solution to your afternoon brain fog. Here are three things that have completely helped me overcome the afternoon slump and they can all be done in less than 5 minutes! (And this post is not sponsored because everything you can do is FREE)! In fact, I doubt I'll be doing any affiliate or sponsored posts as often as I used to because I want you to know that there are people out there just willing to share information because they want to not for money. Ugh!
Brisk Walk. Yes, a brisk walk will energize you. It can be 5 or 10 minutes, preferably outside in the daylight. This quick solution will surely make you productive the rest of your work day. Talk to your boss about getting permission to do this around that time of day when you're feeling extra sluggish. They may see your productivity improve and perhaps start making it mandatory for everyone! :)
Yoga. Yes, you are so tired of me being obsessed with yoga, but just 5 simple moves can bring your brain up to working condition, I just did it and that's why I'm motivated to write this post. Downward Dog, Tree Pose, Camel Pose, Sun salutations, Nostril Breathing all work great for me!
Play Music. I always choose classical because it seems to push me right out of my slump. I try to play motivating classical music, not the kind that will put you to sleep. There are free playlists on Youtube and if you already have Spotify there are great playlists there, too.
Let me know if these solutions worked for you! They are all my go-to since my break up with caffeine which I will write about in the future. .
