Remove Toxic Products from your home!
I've been making it a slow goal to remove all bad chemicals from my cleaning products and make up products this year. I've sort of come to the conclusion that if I can't eat it, do I really want to clean the dishes (that I eat off of) with it or put it on my face? I mean, I know that's not entirely realistic, but it really got me thinking about all the products I use every day.
One thing I have truly noticed within the last year is that the word "Natural" is over used and is ultimately meaningless. If you're looking for a product that is natural, you should probably avoid the ones that say they are. I've made it a rule of thumb that if a cleaning product has more than 5 ingredients, then I should probably avoid it. (this excludes some of the essential oil fragrances as many non toxic soaps have more than one fragrance).
I have replaced all my bathroom and kitchen products with baking soda and vinegar, and guess what - everything is sparkling clean! If I'm looking to add a nice fragrance I add some lemon essential oil to the mix and my entire house smells delicious! I no longer get those migraine headaches when I'm cleaning my home.
I'm still experimenting with facial cleaning products, but I've noticed that good old fashioned water makes me break out less than all the facial cleansers I used before. If you have any suggestions leave them in the comments below!
